Why this exists
Defense tech moves fast. Startups win contracts, wars change what militaries buy, and governments post new tenders every day. But most of this news lives in newsletters and databases, not on one web platform. Only experts post on Substack, and they write for other experts.
No single platform aggregates all the news across startups and established companies, with deep US, Europe, and Israel coverage, in one place. Israel-focused aggregation is lighter than the US and Europe.
This site is that one place. It pulls news, government contracts, and jobs from 23 sources. It tags each item with the city it is about and ranks it by how much it matters. You see the whole field on one map.
Who it is for
- Hobbyists who follow drones, space, ships, and missiles.
- Laymen who want to understand the headlines.
- Students and job seekers looking at a career in defense tech.
- Founders and investors who track startups and contracts.
- Experts who want one feed instead of twenty tabs.
Defense tech is complex. You should not need a security clearance to follow it.
Coverage this week
| Region | Items | Share |
|---|---|---|
| United States | 195 | 62% |
| Europe | 81 | 26% |
| Israel | 11 | 3% |
| Rest of world | 28 | 9% |
Israel gets its own sources here because it is the hardest region to follow.
How to read the feed
- Each line is one news story, contract, or job. Click the title to read the source.
- pts is importance from 0 to 10. An AI model reads each item and scores it. It can be wrong, so check the source.
| Score | What it means |
|---|---|
| 1-3 | Job posts, small orders, minor news |
| 4-6 | Routine program news, mid-size contracts, partnerships |
| 7-8 | Contracts over $100M, big funding rounds, major tests |
| 9-10 | Major conflict news, multi-billion awards, strategic shifts |
- top ranks by importance and age, like Hacker News. new shows the latest first.
How to read the map
| Conflict zone. Reports of fighting, strikes, or attacks in that city. | |
| News. Stories about programs, companies, tests, and policy. | |
| Contract. A government tender, solicitation, or award. | |
| Job. An open role at a defense agency or company. |
- A bigger shape means more important content from that city in the last few days.
- Darker dots mean a country has more activity.

Words you will see
- Defense tech
- Newer companies, often backed by venture capital, that build software, drones, AI, and space systems for the military.
- Prime
- A large, established contractor that leads big programs. Lockheed Martin, RTX (Raytheon), Boeing, Northrop Grumman, and General Dynamics are the US primes. Elbit, Rafael, and IAI play that role in Israel.
- Dual-use
- Tech that sells to both civilian and military buyers. Many startups start here.
- DoD / Department of War
- The US Department of Defense, also called the Pentagon. In 2025 it also took the name Department of War, so you will see both.
- MoD
- Ministry of Defence. The defense department in the UK, Israel, and most other countries.
- IDF
- Israel Defense Forces. Israel's military.
- Solicitation / RFP
- A request for proposals. The government describes what it wants to buy and asks companies to bid.
- Sources sought
- An early notice. The government asks who could do the work before it opens bidding.
- Contract award
- The government picked a winner. Big awards (hundreds of millions or more) score high in this feed.
- OTA
- Other Transaction Agreement. A faster way for the Pentagon to buy from startups outside the normal rules.
- SAM.gov
- The US government site where federal contracts are posted. Many of its items are small parts orders.
- DLA
- Defense Logistics Agency. It buys spare parts, fuel, and food for the US military. Most part-number titles like "43--PUMP,ROTARY" come from it.
- TED
- Tenders Electronic Daily. The EU's public list of government tenders, including military ones.
- Interceptor
- A missile that shoots down another missile, drone, or plane. Patriot (PAC-3), SM-3, and Iron Dome's Tamir are examples.
- Loitering munition
- A drone that circles an area, finds a target, and dives onto it. Also called a kamikaze drone.
- Counter-UAS
- Systems that detect and stop enemy drones. UAS means unmanned aircraft system.
- Hypersonic
- Faster than five times the speed of sound. Hypersonic weapons are hard to track and stop.
- C2
- Command and control. The software and networks commanders use to see the battlefield and give orders. NGC2 is the US Army's next-generation version.
- Electronic warfare (EW)
- Jamming or faking enemy radio, radar, and GPS signals.
- Security clearance
- Government approval to see secret information. Many defense jobs require one (Secret or Top Secret).
- Series A
- A startup's first large round of venture funding. Series B and C come later and are bigger.
